Authenticity Studio began with a deeply personal question: What does it mean to live authentically?

As a gay man growing up in Malaysia, I spent many years hiding parts of who I was. Moving to New Zealand gave me greater freedom, but it also taught me that authenticity isn't something we arrive at. It's an ongoing journey of discovering who we are, finding the courage to live truthfully, and continuing to grow throughout our lives.

Over time, I realised this journey isn't unique to me. Whether through migration, culture, creativity, leadership, family, faith, or lived experience, many people are asking the same question: How do I live as my true self?

Authenticity Studio was created as a space where those stories can be shared with honesty, curiosity, and respect. Through long-form conversations, reflective writing, and community storytelling, we document the lived experiences of people whose journeys help us better understand ourselves, each other, and the communities we belong to.

Because every authentic story has the power to build connection, deepen understanding, and become part of our shared history.
