Storytelling with Integrity

Stories have the power to connect us. They help us understand ourselves, one another, and the communities we belong to. They preserve memory, challenge assumptions, and remind us of our shared humanity.

But not every story is told with care.

At Authenticity Studio, we believe storytelling is an act of responsibility. It isn't about creating heroes, chasing inspiration, or presenting polished versions of people's lives. It is about honouring lived experience with honesty, dignity, and context.

We don't tell stories that suggest success is linear or that people are defined by a single moment. Every life is shaped by struggle, uncertainty, resilience, joy, loss, and continual growth. We believe there is wisdom not only in where people arrive, but in how they find their way.

As Aotearoa continues to evolve, so too must the stories we preserve. They should reflect the richness and diversity of our communities—not only in who is represented, but in how their experiences are understood, respected, and remembered.

Through every conversation, reflection, and story we share, we hope to create greater understanding, strengthen a sense of belonging, and contribute to the living history of the people and communities that shape Aotearoa New Zealand.

Because storytelling, when practised with integrity, does more than inform.

It helps us remember.

It helps us understand.

It helps us belong.

Science Meets Spirituality & Community Healing in Conversation with Monika Merriman of Golden Yogi

In this uplifting conversation, Monika Merriman, caretaker of Golden Yogi, shares her extraordinary journey from marine scientist to spiritual teacher and community leader. For seventeen years, Monika lived in the world of science — teaching, researching, and exploring the natural world — before life guided her into the realm of yoga, energy work, and healing.

Bridging science and spirituality, she speaks of energy as both a measurable and sacred force — something that connects all life. Through Golden Yogi, Monika now offers a sanctuary in the heart of Takapuna where people can breathe, heal, and reconnect through yoga, sound journeys, and community circles.

Her story is a reminder that transformation happens when we listen to our intuition and follow what feels true. As Monika beautifully says, “When you realise everything is energy, everything becomes connection — and healing begins.”

Holding Space for Loss: Conversations on Grief and Hope

Holding Space for Loss: Conversations on Grief and Hope is a deeply human dialogue with Mark Wilson, who lost his wife, Zeta, to suicide nearly two decades ago. Out of that heartbreak, Mark continues her legacy through the Solace Support Group — a space where people bereaved by suicide come together to speak their loved ones’ names, share memories, and rediscover connection.

This conversation explores how grief never truly ends but transforms, how laughter and tears can coexist, and how being present — simply listening without needing to fix — can be the most healing gift of all. It’s an honest reflection on love, loss, and the quiet courage of learning to live with both.

Raymond Wong: Building Bridges, Not Walls

When I sat down with Raymond Wong, I was reminded that leadership often speaks softly. Raymond was New Zealand’s first full-time Asian Ethnic Liaison Officer, long before “diversity and inclusion” became policy language. His story is one of humility, empathy, and quiet transformation — a man who spent decades bridging communities and building trust one conversation at a time. From his early days as a teenager adapting to life in Aotearoa to his pioneering work within the New Zealand Police, Raymond embodies what it means to lead through service. His wisdom reminds us that authenticity is not about recognition or rank, but the courage to listen, care, and keep showing up when no one is watching.
